Greensboro Truck Driver Charged in Fatal Crash

State Troopers said that 29-year-old Melissa Rierson Loftin was killed after her car crashed head-on into a truck that had jackknifed on Old Highway 52, north of Lexington, NC. 

Investigators said the driver of the truck, Charles James Forsbrey, 28, crossed the center line from the northbound lanes shortly before his truck jackknifed.  Loftin was traveling south when she struck the truck. 

Forsbrey suffered only minor injuries in the accident.  A third car sideswiped the truck when the driver attempted to avoid the crash. 

Highway Patrol has stated that alcohol an drugs did not factor into the crash, and both drivers were wearing their seatbelts at the time of the accident.
