Georgetown Man Hit and Killed By Car

A Georgetown man was killed after being struck by a car while walking on the road early Sunday morning. Ellis Matthew Mercer, 24, was pronoucned dead at the scene on Highway 521 near Bluebird Street in Georgetown. According to authorities, Mercer was walking in the westbound lane of Highway 521 when he was struck by a 2008 Chevy Trailblazer.

The driver of the car was not injured and authorties say she will not be charged in the accident. The highway patrol continues to investigate the accident.
