Former Myrtle Beach Police Officer Charged In Fatal Motorcycle Crash

A former Myrtle Beach police officer is charged wiht felony DUI after crashing into a motorcyclist in North Myrtle Beach and then refusing to take a breathalyzer after the accident. According to North Myrtle Beach spokesperson Patrick Dowling, 62-year-old Larry Hardee with be charged with felony DUI. His blood alcohol concentration is unknown at the time of the crash but his blood was drawn at a local hospital and sent off for testing.

The crash occured on Tuesday evening at the intersection of Sea Mountain Highway and Hill Street in North Myrtle Beach. The victim was 49-year-old Rocky Laine Honeycutt who was from North Carolina. He died from head and chest injuries sustained in the accident at Seacoast Medical Center in Little River. Honeycutt was a corrections officer with the NC Department of Corrections and was in Myrtle Beach for the annual bike rally.

The accident is still under investigation and Hardee's bond hearing is scheduled for Wednesday afternoon.
