Fatal traffic accident kills 2 motorcyclists

Two bikers who had come to the Myrtle Beach area for Bike Week were struck and killed by an SUV late Tuesday morning as they headed on a day trip to Charleston. James Doucette, 80, of Port Charlotte, FL and James Hines, 50, of Yaphank, NY were struck from behind by a sports-utility vehicle while they were stopped in traffic on U.S. 17 outside of Mount Pleasant, South Carolina.

The Mount Pleasant police department says that the accident occurred while Doucette and Hines had stopped on their motorcycles. They were rear-ended by the SUV which then pushed them into the back of the vehicle in front of them.

Autopsies are planned for early Wednesday. Charges are still pending in the accident. More information will be released as it comes available.
