Driver Killed on I-77 After Getting Out of Car to Check on Other Driver

A Gaston man was killed in Lexington County on Interstate 77 just after midnight Wednesday morning.  Allen Garner, 44, had been rear-ended around mile marker 4 and got out of his vehicle to check on the other driver.  After getting out of his car, he was struck by several other vehicles and killed.

According to Lance Cpl. Josef Robinson of the S.C. Highway Patrol, a total of 6 vehicles were involved in the crash and it left the southbound lanes closed for several hours.  The highway patrol accident team is investigating the wreck.
