Driver Identified After Fatal Car Accident in Dorchester County

Dorchester County Coroner Chris Nisbet identified 29-year-old Maurice Angelo Smalls as the driver of the car involved in a fatal accident early Tuesday morning on Highway 17A and Orangeburg Road. The SC Highway Patrol says the accident occured around 2:40 A.M. when the Pontiac that Smalls was driving ran off the road and then overturned several times. Smalls was ejected from the car during the accident. A witness also stated that the car may have hit a utility pole as well.
The police are investigating the accident.
