Driver Hits Two People on Moped, Then Flees

A woman is in custody after a hit and run accident Wednesday evening. According to police reports, Barbara Chavis Wright purposely hit a moped carrying two people in front of the Myrtle Beach Train Depot near 9th Avenue N. and Oak Street. The woman fled the scene of the accident after dragging the victims several feet. She then drove her car onto the beach near 9th Avenue S.

A witness followed Wright and said she drove towards the ocean, turned the car around, exited the car, and proceeded to walk north on foot. She was arrested near 7th Avenue South. The Wright was described as a 63-year-old caucasian.

The woman on the moped, Keesha Godley, was in  critical condition at Grand Strand Regional Medical Center but died Thursday morning, and the male victim's condition is still unknown.

Police will continue to investigate the accident.
