Driver Drowns After Crashing Truck into the Water

One person is dead after an accident Tuesday afternoon October 26, 2011. According to the SC Highway patrol, the accident happened at 2187 West Dogwood Road near SC 410 around 3:30 pm. A GMC pickup truck overturned before landing in the swampy area. The truck was submerged upside down in the water and the driver died in the accident. A passenger in the truck was taken to the hospital for treatment. The victim was identified as 46-year-old Charles Smith from Loris. He was wearing a seatbelt at the time of the accident.
The Highway Patrol continues to investigate the accident.
