Driver Charged in Crash Involving School Bus and Tractor Trailer

A tractor-trailer, car, and Berkeley County school bus were involved in an accident Thursday morning on Highway 45 in front of J.K. Gourdin Elementary School. The South Carolina Highway Patrol responded to the accident and determined that the school bus had just finished picking up a student on Highway 45 when a black Nissan tried to pass the bus on a double yellow line. The Nissan hit the back of the bus, veered left, and was struck by an oncoming tractor-trailer. One student from the bus was transported to the hospital as well as the driver of the Nissan. Leslie Boone, the driver of the Nissan was cited for improper passing on a double yellow line.
