Charleston Police have charged a woman with driving too fast for conditions after she ran into the back of a patrol car which caused the patrol car to hit another unoccupied vehicle. The three car accident shut down the Stono Bridge for a short time while police worked to clear the scene.
According to reports, a jeep was driving over the bridge and a tire flew off and struck a 2007 Toyota traveling in the opposite direction. The Toyota became disabled on the bridge. The police cruiser was parked behind the disabled car with its flashing lights on. One trooper got out to help the disabled car and the other went to help direct traffic. It was then that the other car drove past the officer at the foot of the bridge and then hit the back of the patrol car. The police have charged Cindy Floyd, 62, with driving too fast for conditions in the accident. No one was seriously injured in the accident.
