Case Settled for Myrtle Beach Girl Who Lost Thumb

Posted on Aug 26, 2015

A year after a 2014 boating accident where a young girl lost her thumb, a settlement has finally been reached with Brittain Resort Management.

In 2014, Matthew Brittain drove his boat at a high rate of speed and with no warning through an area with moored and rafted boats. A nine-year-old girl had her hand resting on the side of her family's boat and it was then crushed between two boats from the wake caused by Brittain's boat.

The family settled the case for $1 million and has an approval hearing on August 31.
