Car Hits and Kills Man Walking in Road

A man is dead after a car stuck and killed him while he was walking in the raod early Sunday morning in Florence County. Investigators say that Bennie Daniels, Jr., 47, was hit around 3:00 am Sunday while walking along Alligator Road. He was a black man wearing dark clothing and was in the direct path of traffic at the time of the accident. He died at the scene. The driver of the car, a 23-year-old male was not injured in the accident and was wearing a seatbelt. He did make an attempt to avoid Daniels but was unsuccessful. No charges have been filed against the driver.

An investigation continues into the accident.
