Boat Accident along the SC Waterway

Posted on May 18, 2017

The South Carolina Department of Natural Resources (DNR), says that the year is off to a dangerous start with boat accidents already happening on the waterway.

The officers encourage using common sense and watching out for other drivers on the water. Because the moving water makes investigating accidents difficult, it is best to use caution and look out for reckless drivers so these accidents just don't happen.

DNR also recommends preparing for your safety before you get on a boat or jet ski.

Make sure you have enough life jackets, fuel and battery, that your lights work, and that you are familiar with the route you are taking. It is important for whoever is driving to also not be under the influence of drinking or drugs.

There are not as many restrictions on boats as there are on cars, but they can be dangerous and people must still be aware of their surroundings.

If you are on the water and are involved in a boat accident or a jet ski accident due to another's recklessness, you may need legal help getting your medical bills paid.
