Bicyclist Dies in Tuesday Evening Accident with SUV

A 60-year-old Darlington man died Tuesday night from injuries sustained in bicycle accident. The victim, Carl Spann, was traveling west in the east-bound lane of East 7 Pines Street near U.S. 401 when he ran head-on into a Jeep Laredo around 7:15 p.m.
The driver of the SUV was not injured in the accident and will not face charges because bicycles are required by law to ride with traffic. The bicycle also had no reflectors and Spann was also wearing dark clothing.
