Beaufort Man Dead After Motorcycle Accident

A Beaufort man has died after a motorcycle accident on Sunday afternoon. 52-year-old Russell Summers was traveling west on Sams Point Road on Lady's Island around 1:15 P.M. when he rear-ended a SUV that had slowed for traffic. Summers was not wearing a helmet in the accident and was taken to Beaufort Memorial Hospital and later flown to MUSC where he died. The driver and passenger in the SUV were not injured.

The accident is still being investigated by the Highway Patrol.
