Accident on Ravenel Bridge Blamed on DUI

The Charleston police state that a two vehicle accident that happened on the Ravenel Bridge early Thursday morning was the result of a DUI. The accident happened around 3 am and closed the side of the bridge heading towards Mt. Pleasant for over an hour. Teal Marvel Scobie, 22, was driving her Ford Taurus down the bridge when she changed lanes and hit a Volkswagen Jetta. She then hit a rail and flipped over. Scobie was trapped in the car until officers got to the scene.
According to the reports officers found several empty beer bottles inside the car and Scobie admitted to have two rum drinks. Officers also noticed a strong smell of alcohol emitting from her. She agreed to a blood test and was taken to MUSC to be traeted for some broken facial bones. She was then charged with driving under the influence and will be taken to jail after she is released from the hospital.
