Accident Kills Motorcyclist, Driver Faces DUI Charges

A motorcyclist has died after a collision with a 70-year-old Eutawville man. The accident happened on Highway 6 just inside of Orangeburg County Saturday night. The driver of the car, Laymon Davis has been charged with felony driving under the influence. The driver of the motorcycle, Joseph Michael Lijewski, died at the scene of the accident. He was not wearing a helmet.

According to reports, Lijewski was traveling east around 6:50 pm when the 1997 Lincoln TownCar driven by Davis traveling west collided with him. The Highway Patrol's MAIT team continues to investigate the accident. Davis was being held in the Orangeburg County Jail.
