Accident Involving Dump Truck Closes Lane of Highway 544

The South Carolina Highway Patrol closed one of the eastbound lanes of Highway 544 Friday morning after an accident involving a dump truck. The accident happened at the intersection of Hwy. 544 and Dick Pond Road. Traffic was delayed because emergency crews had to work to free two of the drivers involved in the accident. The dump truck flipped on top of a mini van. The dump truck driver was transported to Conway Medical Center but the driver of the mini van suffered only minor injuries.

Authorities are still investigating the accident to determine what caused the crash. No charges have been filed yet in the case.
