Accident in Columbia Claims Life

The South Carolina Highway Patrol reported a fatal accident around 12:38 a.m. Thursday morning about a half mile south of Batesburg-Leesville. 42-year-old Sylvester Anderson, Jr. was injured in the head a chest in the accident. He was driving a 4-door Nissan south on S.C. 23 when the car went off the right side of the road and collided with a telephone box. The car then crossed the left side of the road and overturned. Anderson was not wearing a seatbelt and was ejected from the car. He died from his injuries around 2:00 a.m.
The Highway Patrol will continue to investigate the accident.
