4-Year-Old Girl Dies in Car Accident

A 4-year-old girl has died after a two car collision Monday night in South Congaree in Columbia. Lexington County Coroner Harry Harman says that Gabrielle Shumate was the passenger in a 2006 Kia being driven by her father when it was struck by a 2002 Nissan on Rambling Road. The accident happened around 8:20 P.M. and the girl was transported to Lexington Medical Center where she was later pronounced dead.

The accident remains under investigation by the Lexington County Coroner's office, the South Carolina Highway Patrol, and the South Congaree Police Department.
