4 killed in crash at Dillon County intersection

A car accident in Dillon County left four people dead and one other injured Tuesday night.

The wreck occurred around 11:25 pm at the intersection of State Road 40 and State Road 50, a few miles north of Dillon.

A 1999 Saturn ran a stop sign and was subsequently T-boned by an oncoming 2001 Volkswagen. The driver of the Saturn, a 26-year-old man and his three female passengers ages 23, 20 and 18 were killed in the crash. None of the victims were wearing seatbelts and were ejected from the vehicle at the time of the collision.

The driver of the Volkswagen, a 32-year-old man from Fairmont, NC was taken to a nearby hospital for treatment of injuries.

The accident is still under investigation by the South Carolina Highway Patrol.
