18-wheeler crashes on SC 22 in Horry County

An 18-wheeler crashed on S.C. 22 Thursday night causing traffic delays as officials worked to clear the wrecked truck.

The wreck occurred about 6 pm on Thursday after the vehicle ran off the road and then crashed into the median and the cables that divide the highway around mile marker 10 in Horry County. South Carolina Highway Patrol says that damage to the truck was minimal. The driver was taken to a local hospital for treatment of minor injuries.

Authorities blocked one westbound lane of traffic on 22 while they removed the crashed truck from the road. It is not yet clear why the truck went off the road. Highway Patrol continues to investigate the accident.
