Fatal car crash kills two Horry County women

Two women were killed in an early evening car crash in Longs when their vehicles collided.
EarlerMae Watson, 78, and Jaquinta T. Brown, 20, both of Loris, died of internal injuries at the scene of the accident which occurred around 5 pm on Red Bluff Road between S.C. 90 and S.C. 905. Watson had been driving north on Red Bluff Road and Brown had been driving south prior to the collision.
Highway Patrol reports that Watson and Brown were the drivers of their vehicles and had no passengers at the time the accident took place.

Pedestrian killed on U.S. 17 Business in Myrtle Beach

A man was attempting to cross U.S. 17 Business when he was struck and killed by a northbound vehicle. The accident occurred around 10 pm Friday evening just south of SC 544 near the Ocean Lakes campground.
The victim, Steven Roberge, 33, died from multiple injuries shortly after being hit by a 1988 GMC pickup truck driven by David W. Minnigh, 37. Roberge, who is said to have resided at an area motel, was crossing the median at the time of the collision.
The accident remains under investigation by the South Carolina Highway Patrol. -
Four-car crash in Dillon County leaves mother dead

A four-car collision took place on S.C. 38 in Dillion County near the I-95 interchange around 7:25 am that sent four to the hospital and killed a mother of three.
Beneio Torres was exiting I-95 onto S.C. 38 when he disregarded a stop sign. His 2004 Chevrolet SUV then collided with a 2008 Ford van going westbound on S.C. 38 before hitting a 1998 Chevrolet Malibu traveling east. He then struck a 2007 Honda SUV.
Tashema Ford, 34, the driver of the Malibu was struck on the driver's side by Torres' SUV. She was not wearing a seat belt at the time of the crash and died from injuries she sustained in the accident. The three other drivers and a passenger in the Honda were taken to a local hospital for treatment of injuries. -
Dump truck and car collide in 701 crash

Traffic was slowed on Highway 701 near the Yauhannah Bridge in Horry County Monday afternoon as emergency crews worked to extricate an individual from a vehicle following a traffic accident.
A dump truck and a car were involved in a wreck that took place shortly after 3 pm. A trailer from the dump truck that had been carrying construction equipment became detached and hit the car.
At least one person was injured and had to be airlifted to the hospital via helicopter. -
Wreck closes road near Aynor, SC

A traffic accident closed Adrian Parkway near Aynor Monday night as Highway Patrol emergency crews worked to clear the scene and tend to at least one injured individual.
A collision occurred around 9:11 pm on Highway 701 and Adrian Parkway in Horry County. Witnesses say a car was flipped upside down and was on fire.
One person was flown from the scene to a hospital for treatment by medical helicopter. Adrian Parkway remained closed for a period of time Monday night. -
Head-on collision causes death of 2 South Carolina women

A Murrells Inlet woman was killed in a head-on collision while on U.S. 378 in Marion County last week.
The accident occurred when a vehicle crossed the center line and crashed into another car near Paul Richardson Road in Gresham on Friday. The driver of the vehicle that caused the crash, Peggy Jean Smith, of Waterboro, was killed on impact. Darleen Shea Plyere, 52, of Murrells Inlet, who was driving the other car also died. Witnesses say Smith's vehicle had crossed the center line multiple times before the accident took place.
Another vehicle ran into the crash, but the passengers only recieved minor injuries.

Golf cart struck by a vehicle on Highway 90

A golf cart was struck by an oncoming vehicle early Monday morning on Highway 90 in Horry County.
The accident occurred around 2 am when the golf cart crossed the center line and was hit by an oncoming vehicle. The driver of the golf cart had been using a flashlight as a headlight.
The driver was flown to New Hanover Regional Medical Center for treatment following the accident and his condition is unknown at this time.
South Carolina law prohibits golf carts from being driven on primary highways or at night. Golf carts are also required to stay within 2 miles of the owner's home. -
Man killed in early morning Georgetown accident
Jul 19, 2010A man from Summerville was killed in an early morning car wreck in Georgetown at the intersection of Highway 17 alternate route and College Park Road.
The victim has been indentified as 23-year-old Larry Peagler. Peagler had been driving northbound on Highway 17 when he lost control of his vehicle and went into a canal. The cause of his accident is still under investigation by the South Carolina Highway Patrol.
Peagler was not wearing a seat belt when the accident occurred. No other vehicles were involved in the wreck.

Wreck on SC 319 sends one to hospital

A wreck occurring Monday morning shut down a road in Aynor, SC and sent a woman to the hospital via helicopter.
At around 8:17 am Monday a Ford SUV traveling southbound on S.C. 319 was attempting to make a left turn onto Vereen Road when it struck a Chevrolet vehicle. The driver of the Chevrolet had to be airlifted to the hospital. Highway Patrol says that the driver of the Ford failed to yield right-of-way, causing the crash.
Traffic was stalled on 319 while emergency personel awaited the helicopter following the accident.

Pedestrian hit by van on U.S. 17 Bypass in Myrtle Beach

A man who had been running along the side of U.S. 17 Bypass near Myrtle Beach was struck by a vehicle when he attempted to cross to the other side.
A van, traveling south of the Bypass, struck the pedestrian while going 40 mph around 4 pm on Wednesday afternoon. The man had to be transported to Grand Strand Regional Medical Center for treatment of his injuries. He is currently in an induced coma.
Witnesses say the man had been running on the side of the road and then ran out in front of the vehicle. No charges will be filed against the driver of the van.
