What do I need to do if Social Security has denied me?

A:

It is normal to get denied the first time. Only a small percentage of applicants are approved at the initial level. If you are denied, you should file a request for reconsideration unless your disability has ended and it didn't last 12 months. You should also talk to an attorney. Since you were denied, you file must be lacking sufficient evidence of disability and an attorney can identify what additional information may be needed.
