Table Top Clip-On Chair Recalled Due to Fall and Amputation Hazard

The Consumer Product Safety Commission has recalled the "metoo" Clip-On Chair imported by phil&teds. According to the release, missing or worn clamp pads allow the chairs to detach from a variety of different table surfaces which poses a fall hazard. In addition, when the chair detaches, childrens fingers can be caught between the bar and clamping mechanism posing an amputation hazard.

The company, phil&teds, and the CPSC have received 19 reports of the chairs falling from different table surfaces including 5 reports that included injuries. Two of those reports stated that children's fingers were severely pinched, lacerated, crushed or amuptated. The other three reports stated injuries of bruising after a chair detached suddenly and the child struck the floor or table.

The chair was sold by Buy Buy Baby, Target, Toys R US, and their online sites. Consumers should stop using the product immediately and contact the company to receive a free repair kit. For more information please visit www.CPSC.gov
