The National Highway Traffic Safety Administration has said it is investigating as many as 360,000 2005 and 2006 model year Ford Taurus sedans for faulty accelerators. So far 14 complaints have been reported stemming from detached cruise control cables and sticking throttles. The issue has caused drivers to struggle to stop the car with the brakes and many had to shut off the engine or shift into neutral to stop the car.
The NHTSA states that it is only investigating the issue and a recall has not been issued. Ford has promised full cooperation with investigators.
